Loyola out wrestles Gilman, 42-28

It was good battle as Loyola hosted Gilman in a MIAA A Conference wrestling dual meet, Tuesday at Blakefield, but the host Dons had a little too much firepower for the Greyhounds, as they captured a 42-28 victory.
Loyola did a lot of damage in the lower weights as they collected 24 points with two falls and two forfeits between 103 and 125.
David Mohler and Kevin Frantz collected the free passes, while Ben Smist and Conan Schuster each recorded first period pins.
Owen Foster (130) and Cal Riorda (135) gave Gilman a boost with back-to-back falls, but sophomore Joe Moreno collected another pin for Loyola at 140. Gilman's Tommy Faust countered with a major decision at 145, but Will Flynn (152) and Gus Moreno (160) each scored major decisions to bolster the Dons.
Luca Simmons of Gilman pinned Loyola's Alex Hunt with just six seconds left in their match at 171 and Walt Saunders got a victory for the Greyhounds at 215. Loyola's other victory came from Matt Hnatiuk, at 189, as he defeated Mike Savage, 17-5, for a major decision. Gilman's Hunter Goodwin also collected a forfeit victroy at 285.
Loyola is now 4-0 overall and 1-0 in the A Conference. Gilman is 3-4 overall and 0-3 in the conference.
