A cornerstone win for Spalding lacrosse
4/2/2010
While parity has been spreading like wildfire across the national lacrosse landscape in recent years, it has been slow to arrive in the bottom half of the MIAA A Conference.
Well, following Thursday's marque win for Archbishop Spalding over Gilman, the league's defending champion, that may have finally changed.
Spalding (3-4, 2-1) turned in an impressive second half as it toppled the Greyhounds, 14-11, in Roland Park.
Wade Korvin powered the Cavaliers with a huge seven point game, as he scored five goals and registered two assists. Spalding also received four goals from Connor McRoy and Brian Cooper added a pair of goals and one assist.
Late in the second quarter, Spalding embarked on a 7-0 run that turned a 9-6 deficit into a 13-9 lead.
Conor Doyle led Gilman (3-4, 0-2) with four goals and one assist, while Ryan Tucker and Garrett Paglia scored twice each.
Gilman has now lost four straight games.
