Spalding lax takes down McDonogh, 8-5

Archbishop Spalding followed Friday's big win over Gilman with another huge MIAA A Conference victory, on Tuesday, as the Cavaliers traveled to Owings Mills and handed No. 3 McDonogh its first league loss of the 2010 season.
Spalding, ranked seventh, is now 6-4 overall and 3-1 in the league.
Brian Cooper was the offensive star for the Cavaliers, as he scored three times and dished out an assist. Junior Matt Franchak scored twice, while Connor McRoy scored one goal and and added a pair of assists.
Spalding also received single goals from Wade Korvin and Luke Dick.
Senior Kyle Rice kept McDonogh in the game with three goals and Keegan Michel had three assists. Spalding's other goals came from Brady Faby and Joe Meurer.
Junior goalkeeper Kevin Hess had 15 saves for Spalding, frequently frustrating McDonogh advances.
McDonogh slipped to 8-2 overall and 2-1 in the A Conference.
