When Boys' Latin and Archbishop Spalding met earlier this year on the lacrosse field, Spalding pushed the Lakers to the limit before suffering a two goal setback. Since then the Cavaliers have steadily improved and have taken up mantle as one of the top teams in the conference in 2010.
The bad news, at least for the rest of the MIAA A Conference, is that Boys' Latin has also improved. The Lakers demonstrated this fact, on Tuesday, as they powered past visiting Spalding, 14-9, in the rematch. With the victory the Lakers (11-1 overall) moved way down the road towards clinching the top seed in the Red Division, as they remain undefeated in league play at 7-0.
The difference for BL was an eight goal spurt, which began in the second quarter, breaking a 5-5 tie.
Wells Stanwick scored six points to lead Boys' Latin, with three goals and three assists. Ryan Jarvis also had three goals, while Patrick Foster scored twice and dished out three assists.
Luke Dick led Spalding (8-5, 5-2) with a game-high four goals, Bill Binder scored twice, and Connor McRoy had a goal and three assists.
