Calvert Hall rallies to edge Gilman for fifth straight MIAA track title
AACPS claims B Conference crown
The 2026 MIAA Track & Field Championships delivered exactly what a championship meet should—drama at the top and standout performances across the board.
Starting at Calvert Hall on Thursday and concluding on Saturday at Archbishop Spalding, the A Conference competition saw Calvert Hall erase a Day 1 deficit and hold off Gilman for the team championship, 143.5-140, in one of the tightest finishes in meet history. The Cardinals’ surge secured a record fifth consecutive championship and seventh overall, denying Gilman — which won the regular season crown — a sweep.
In the B Conference, Annapolis Area Christian School pulled away from a crowded field to finish with 107 points, ahead of John Carroll School and Indian Creek School, who tied for second at 95.
But as always, this meet belonged just as much — if not more — to the individuals who seized the spotlight and captured gold.
Calvert Hall’s depth powers title run
The Cardinals captured both the 4x400 and 4x800 relays, with Max Ormerod factoring into each victory, underscoring his versatility. Max Miller added a win in the 400 meters (48.23) and ran on the victorious 4x400 unit, giving him a pair of titles.
Lukas Archer delivered in the 800 meters (1:55.29), while distance standout Kaden Omopariola claimed the 1600 (4:17.65). Teammate JD Hughes answered with a win in the 3200 (9:18.87) after finishing second in the 1600—another example of the Cardinals piling up critical points across events.
Gilman, Mount St. Joseph produce multi-event stars
Mount St. Joseph’s Demitrius Jackson turned in one of the meet’s most impressive doubles, sweeping both hurdle events—110 hurdles (14.97) and 300 hurdles (39.83). Teammate Trevor White added a high jump crown (6-6), giving the Gaels a strong presence atop the podium.
McDonogh sprint relays dominate; individual standouts shine

- Rashien Gibbs (Archbishop Curley) won the 200 meters (21.16).
- Brayden Rhodes (Archbishop Spalding) took the 100 (10.84).

B Conference: AACS’ Nebbia leads balanced championship effort

Concordia Prep’s Cooper headlines multi-event performances
The B Conference also featured several dominant individual efforts:
- Jayden Cooper (Concordia Prep) was electric, winning the 100 (11.20) and 200 (22.41) while running on both the winning 4x100 and 4x200 relay teams—accounting for four gold medals.

- Indian Creek’s Eli Robinson captured the 300 hurdles (43.98).
- Park’s Johah Cowan (1600) and Own Greer (110 hurdles) added individual wins.
- John Carroll’s 4x800 relay unit delivered a championship performance (8:31.01).
