McDonogh visits Calvert Hall in a key A Conference showdown
Playoff seeds are on the line in both the A and B Conferences
Just four weeks remain in the 2025 MIAA football regular season, which means there are just four opportunities for teams, in both the A and B Conferences, to battle themselves into the top four of their conference and qualify for their respective league playoffs.
In the A Conference, this week's key match-up will take place on Friday night in Towson as McDonogh visits Calvert Hall. McDonogh (5-1 overall), which has appeared in the last two league championship games is currently 3-1 in league play and well positioned to return to the post-season. Calvert Hall (3-2, 1-1), which currently is in fourth place, needs wins to stay there, as Concordia Prep (1-2) and Gilman (1-2) remain in the chase.
Calvert Hall is coming off a bye, while McDonogh is coming off a 28-14 win over Mount St. Joseph (4-3, 0-3).
Elsewhere in the A Conference, Loyola Blakefield (4-2, 2-1) visits St. Mary's (3-3, 1-3) on Friday, while, on Saturday, first place Archbishop Spalding (5-2, 4-0) visits Concordia Prep and Gilman travels to St. Joe.
The two remaining undefeated teams in the B Conference are both on the road on Friday evening. St. Paul's (4-1 overall) moved to 3-0 in league play with a thrilling, 27-26, win over St. Vincent Pallotti (2-5, 2-1) last week, while John Carroll (5-1 overall), which defeated Mount Carmel, 28-7, last week, is also 3-0 in the conference. St. Paul's will be at winless St. John's Catholic Prep (0-6, 0-4), while the Patriots will visit Pallotti.
Mount Carmel (3-3, 1-2) will host Boys' Latin (3-4, 2-1), on Friday, while Archbishop Curley (2-4, 1-2) will host Severn (2-4, 1-3), on Saturday. Both the Cougars and Friars will be celebrating their respective Homecomings.
