Apr 22, 2026

The Gilman School track and field program left little doubt about its standing atop the MIAA A Conference regular season standings this spring.

The Greyhounds will now host Archbishop Curley and McDonogh on Wednesday, April 29 in the regular season championship meet.

With a commanding performance in Tuesday’s league quad meet, the Greyhounds completed a perfect run through their three scheduled 2026 regular season meets, clinching the top-seed conference championship in emphatic fashion. Gilman piled up 163 points — nearly doubling runner-up Archbishop Curley 63), while Calvert Hall (40) and St. Paul’s (16) rounded out the standings.

On the 29th, Gilman seeks its seventh MIAA A Conference regular season crown in the past nine years, a stretch of sustained excellence that dates back to 2017. In the process, the Greyhounds ended the reign of defending regular season champion Mount St. Joseph.

Gilman’s strength was evident across the board, with victories spanning sprints, distance events, field events and relays.

Joshua Yibas led the way on the track with a win in the 400 meters (52.36), while Leo Bowen captured the 1600 meters in 4:33.25, with teammate Jack Mashaw finishing second to secure valuable team points.

The Greyhounds dominated the hurdles and jumps as well. Kendall Lunn won the 110-meter hurdles (15.56), followed by teammates Aaron Mozayan and Suli Leheny to complete a 1-2-3 finish. In the long jump, Derrick Alexander leapt 20 feet, 11.5 inches for the win, with Desmond Barkus placing second.

Derrick Alender added another field event victory in the triple jump (45-11), with Marcus Turpin finishing runner-up.

In the throwing events, Gilman swept both disciplines. Andrew Frisbush won the shot put (46-1.25), topping teammate Messiah Jews, who won the discus with a throw of 133-5.

The Greyhounds also showcased their relay strength. The quartet of Anderson Isaac, Gabriel Mays, Dillon Dardis and Mickey Savage claimed the 4x200 relay in 1:34.30. In the 4x800, Michael Johnston, Liam Digges, Alex Zhao and Jake Rody delivered another victory with a time of 12:03.39.

While Gilman controlled the team standings, several standout individual performances highlighted the competition.

Curley made its mark in the sprint events, sweeping the top three spots in the 200 meters. Rashien Gibbs led the charge with a winning time of 21.86, followed by teammates Arie Randall and James Pittman.

Gibbs also played a key role in Curley’s relay success, teaming with Randall, Pittman and Kobe Cannon to win the 4x100 (43.10). Cannon later anchored the Friars to victory in the 4x400 alongside TooChukwu Okpala, Ryan Kurl and Aiden Fitch.

Curley also picked up a field event win in the high jump, where Gavin Vaughters cleared 6-2.

Calvert Hall earned four individual victories, led by Max Miller in the 100 meters (11.25) and Jack Walsh in the 3200 meters (9:55.96). Arden Bell captured the 300-meter hurdles (43.15), and Johnath Oyedeji won the pole vault (11-6).

St. Paul’s lone victory came in the 800 meters, where Thomas Millis clocked 2:00.95 to take the title.
