Gilman rolls past McDonogh, Curley to capture MIAA A Conference regular-season title
Gilman School put an emphatic stamp on its 2026 outdoor track and field regular season on Wednesday, cruising to the MIAA A Conference regular-season championship with a dominant showing in a tri-meet against McDonogh and Archbishop Curley.
Competing on its home track, Gilman piled up 90.5 points to easily outdistance McDonogh (42) and Curley (33.5), showcasing depth across sprints, distance events, relays and the field.
Gilman dominates across the board
Gilman’s strength was evident from the opening events and continued throughout the meet.
Josh Edwards led the way in the 200 meters with a winning time of 23.48 seconds, followed by teammate Karl Foland. In the 400, Anderson Isaac clocked a first-place finish in 52.21, with Joshua Tibas also scoring.
Distance standout Leo Bowen captured the 1600 meters in 4:29.31, while Kendall Lunn delivered a standout double in the hurdles. Lunn won the 110-meter hurdles in 15.45, ahead of teammates Suli Leheny and Aariz Mozayan, and returned to take the 300-meter hurdles in 42.41, with Malayan also placing.
Gilman’s relay teams continued the momentum. The quartet of Joshua Yibas, Isaac, Luke Mulligan and Dillon Dardis took the 4x400 relay, while Alex Zhao, John Nehra, Jake Rody and Liam Digges combined to win the 4x800 relay in 8:43.70.
In the field events, Messiah Jews claimed the discus with a throw of 120 feet, 5 inches, and Derrick Alexander soared to victory in the triple jump with a mark of 47-0.75.
McDonogh claims key victories
McDonogh found success in several events, highlighted by Carter Linn’s win in the 3200 meters (10:33.54), with Robert Heavers also placing.
The Eagles also swept the sprint relays. Kyle Rollins, CJ Davis, Marcus Williams and Austin McNair won the 4x100 relay in 44.79, while Rollins, Davis, Williams and Will Fuchs took the 4x200 relay in 1:33.45.
Williams added an individual title in the long jump, clearing 21-8.75.
Curley earns individual wins
Archbishop Curley produced multiple individual champions despite the team result.
Rashie Gibbons won the 100 meters in 10.93, and Dylan Frazier captured the 800 meters in 2:05.75. In the field, Madden Brown took the shot put with a throw of 35-7.25, while Gavin Vaughters cleared 5-10 to win the high jump.
Championships up next
The focus now shifts to the 2026 MIAA Track & Field Championships, where individual titles will be on the line. Day 1 is scheduled for May 7 at Calvert Hall, with the meet concluding May 9 at Archbishop Spalding.
