Gilman gets the jump on indoor track season
Greyhounds edge Mount St. Joseph in the season's opening MIAA meet

Gilman used a strong effort from a variety of athletes to top Mount. St. Joseph, 124-119, at the MIAA Indoor Track & Field Conference Meet on Friday at the Prince George’s Sports & Learning Complex in Landover.
The Greyhounds’ list of standouts include a first-place finish from junior Derrick Alexander (long jump, 21 feet, 8 inches), who also took second-place honors in the long jump and triple jump, as did senior John Cameron (500), freshman Leo Bowen (1600 meters) and the 4X800 relay quartet.
Suli Leheny (55 hurdles), fellow senior Jack Mashaw (800) and junior Cameron Donohoe (pole vault) produced third-place finishes for the Greyhounds.
Sophomore Demitrius Jackson (55 hurdles, 8.02) and seniors Jack Webb (800, 2:06.54) and Bryan Iwouha (shot put, 46-7) struck gold for the Gaels with sophomore Kinnard Mahomes (55 hurdles), Iwouha (high jump) and the 4X400 relay achieving runner-up. status.
Jackson (triple jump) and sophomore Trevor White (long jump) were third for the Gaels.
Seniors Kyle Rollins (55 meters, 6.45) and Austin McNair (triple jump, 44-8.25) and the 4X200 and 4X400 relay squads paced third-place McDonogh (73 points) with wins while senior Carter Lin (800) and freshman Basil Oshegbo (55) logged seconds.
Junior Max Miller (300, 36.04) was victorious for Calvert Hall (4th, 42) with senior Joshua Reeves a near-miss in the pole vault. Miller edged junior Brayden Rhodes from Spalding (5th, 36) in the highly competitive 300.
Loyola Blakefield (6th, 34) nabbed two first-place finishes behind senior Daniel McCormick (long jump, 22-9.5) and junior Ryan McGlynn (pole vault, 11-0). Junior Matt Allen (3rd, shot put) also chipped in for the Dons.
Glenelg Country School (12 points) was well represented by junior Markus Thomas (500, 1:09.04) as was Annapolis Area Christian School (30) by senior double-winnerJack Nebbia (1600, 4:39.64; 3200, 9:49.25).
