Seeds announced for MIAA lacrosse playoffs
With the completion of the regular season, the final seeds are set for the upcoming MIAA lacrosse playoffs in the A, B and C Conferences.
Defending champion Calvert Hall is the top seed in the A Conference, while McDonogh has earned the second seed. Both teams will have first round byes for Friday’s quarterfinal round and will open the postseason play on Tuesday, May 12 in the semifinals at Navy-Marine Corps Stadium in Annapolis.
The A Conference matchup for the quarterfinals will see sixth-seeded St. Mary’s at third-seeded Archbishop Spalding and fourth-seeded Loyola hosting fifth-seeded Severn. The Loyola/Severn winner will challenge Calvert Hall at 5 p.m. on the 12th and second game of the semifinal double-header will feature McDonogh against the St. Mary’s/Spalding winner.
In the B Conference, the defending champion is also the top-seed, as Saints Peter & Paul claimed that honor. Archbishop Curley is the second-seed. Both clubs will host semifinal playoff games on May 12. In the B Conference quarterfinals, on Friday, third-seeded Gerstell Academy hosts sixth-seeded St. Vincent Pallotti and fifth-seeded Concordia Prep travels to fourth-seeded Indian Creek. Saints Peter & Paul awaits the Concord/ICS victory, while Curley will play the Pallotti/Gerstell winner.
Park School is the-top seed in the C Conference and defending champion Glenelg County is the second-seed.
Friday’s C Conference quarterfinals feature sixth-seed Jemicy at third-seed Friends and fifth-seed Key at fourth-seed Gunston. The Jemicy/Friends survivor will travel to Glenelg Country for a semifinal battle on the 12th. Park will host the other semifinal against the Key/Guntston winner.
The C Conference championship game will take place on Thursday, May 14 at US Lacrosse Stadium at 6 p.m. The A and B Conference finals will both be played on Friday, May 15 at Stevenson University’s Mustang Stadium, with the B Conference final starting at 5:30 p.m. and A Conference championship game scheduled for 8:00 p.m.
